5 Oaks Hunters
Strategies
Waterfowl require a mosaic of habitat types. Flooded timber, moist soil, scrub-shrub wetlands, flooded cropland, and even hot food crops like flooded corn. The Five Oaks management strategy is simple. We provide all the habitat types the waterfowl require throughout the fall and winter months. Since the late 1990s we are concentrating more and more on increasing forest health to increase acorn and grassy weedy forage in the flooded timber.
Where do we hunt?
Where can you expect to hunt? Where ever we find the ducks the evening before. We scout each and every day. We don’t hunt the same spots day after day. Our water management strategies dictate where the birds are using on a day to day basis. Why? Ducks love fresh water and newly flooded resources. We manage for success in the field. The days of flooding the woods brim full the day before duck season and hunting in three foot of water are over.
Guides
Our guides are the finest in the business. They are not just good guides they are great people. There is more to being a good duck guide than bringing in a limit of ducks every hunt. While knowing how to safely provide a great experience for hunters with different skill levels is a priority. Having the hunters enjoy their experience with the guide is just as important.
